Waterloo Region Minor Football Association - WRMFA - is looking for volunteers to join its Board of Directors.
Nomination Form

Guaranteed Fun & Extremely Rewarding

Being on the board means you will help shape the future of Minor Football in Waterloo Region.  We have a great group of players and families that return year after year to be a part of our programs. We need people like you to join our board to help keep these programs affordable, competitive and fun.

Speaking of fun, that’s an added bonus of being part of our board.  We all enjoy working and collaborating together to improve our football programs. From the thrill of the Game Day experience to our monthly “Social” - we mean Board Meeting! - we always have a good time while bringing the game we love to the families and youth of Waterloo Region.

All positions are volunteer roles. Commitment hours vary depending on the board position but typically only require a couple of hours a week plus attending monthly board meetings. There are a few weeks throughout the year, normally around season kick-off when things may be a little busier.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - JULY

Our AGM is usually in Feb/March but due to COVID our last 2 AGM's have been in the summer.   We will be hosting our next AGM in mid to late July (exact date TBA) . Board elections take place at the AGM so this is when your new role will start.   There is an official nomination process for board positions but we will provide more information about that during our discussion.

I'm IN!!  What Are My Next Steps?

If you are ready to commit OR even just slightly interested OR you just want to join us for one social/board meeting - email info@waterlooregionfootball.com and we will be happy to connect with you for further information.

Available Board Positions

REGISTRAR

You are the man - or woman - behind the curtain. Your role as registrar is to set up the registration system for all of our programs and events as well and handle team rostering.  You will be point contact for questions about registration and with support of the webmaster and software vendors will help answer any technical questions and solve registration problems. You also get the super rewarding task of helping some of our families navigate available financial assistance programs, while assisting with their football registration process.

COACHING DIRECTOR & COACHING COMMITTEE

We recognize that the coaches are the face of the franchise to the players and parents.

Players follow coaches.  If we want the best players we need to develop the best coaches. It’s that simple.  In order to fulfill our goal of providing a first class program we require a Coaching Director to oversee a coaching committee of two or three people to engage in and develop our coaching community.  You should have some coaching experience plus a burning desire to make a difference.

VOLUNTEER DIRECTOR

Our entire program from top to bottom is run by volunteers.  Volunteers are a tricky lot but for the most part they just want to know what they need to do.  As volunteer director your goal will be to get the most out of every volunteer that makes eye contact!  Using clear communication and sharing written procedures, policies and defining expectations will make things easier on everyone.  Your main role will be to communicate with team managers and staff to ensure things run smoothly and stress free for all involved.

SPRING TACKLE DIRECTOR

You have a competitive fire burning within.  Our Spring program is rep football. Our entire association wants to compete and succeed at the highest level in Spring OSFL Football.  Your role as Spring Director is to help us make that happen.  Working with the other directors you will help recruit the best coaches. You will work closely with the scheduler to ensure all fields, refs, trainers are booked and ready to go for the season.

We will rely on you to manage and report on, our Spring budget .  You will attend all OSFL League meetings and update the board accordingly. You will keep a good working relationship with other local football associations, communicating when players want to change football clubs and releasing players accordingly when appropriate. You will be the point of contact for managers and coaches throughout the spring season.

SCHEDULER

In order for kids to get out on the field there is a surprising amount of things that need to be scheduled and booked.  This is where your love of filling a calendar with dates and names comes in.  As scheduler your role will be to book fields, officials, trainers, facilities and transportation.  Most of this work is a quick email with a follow-up confirmation.  Oh and did we mention the calendar? Part of your role will be to update and maintain the organization's master calendar so everyone gets to see all the hard work you’ve done.

FLAG FOOTBALL DIRECTOR

Our Flag Football Director along with a love of the sport has ambition.  We are looking to grow Flag Football in Waterloo Region. We currently run a pretty great program but it always sells out and is ready for expansion!   If you see that as an exciting opportunity then great, so do we.  We are looking for someone who can help take our flag program to another level.  Our house league program is pretty competitive but there is interest from players and parents for a more competitive flag experience.  The demand is there, are you up for the challenge?

SPONSORSHIP, GRANTS & FUNDRAISING DIRECTOR

In the role of sponsorship director you will be tasked with working with the board of directors to land sponsorships for the association to help us fund the great things that we do.  Along with schmoozing the local business community you will be tasked with keeping an eye out for the availability of grants from municipal governments, governing sports bodies and charities.  Identifying and successfully applying for these opportunities is a key role in keeping our sport affordable.  Lastly you will be tasked with helping individual teams come up with some unique and profitable fundraising ideas.

WEBMASTER

Our web page is going to undergo a significant change for the better. We are looking for someone to lead the charge. We have chosen to partner with TeamLinkt to help us develop our new website which already includes their registration and payment system.  We are looking for someone to lead a committee of members who will assist.  Once the website is up and running your role would be to maintain and support other members in updating content and posting information etc.  You would remain the point contact for support requirements from TeamLinkt that the Registrar or others may have.

CAMPS & SKILLS DIRECTOR

Do you like to see players grow and succeed? As Camps and Skills Director you will help provide opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to do just that.  Working with the coaches, players and other vendors you will help identify and offer development camps and programs in the offseason to keep athletes active and engaged.  Some of these programs from the past have been 7v7 Indoor Flag, Winter Skills Camp, Lineman Camp, Strength and Conditioning Training. Oh and don’t forget our Annual Combine!

Thank you for your interest in playing a significant role in WRMFA's future success!
