We are thrilled to announce our official partnership with the University of Waterloo and our rebranding as the Junior Warriors!

PRESS RELEASE

The University of Waterloo Department of Athletics and Recreation is proud to announce our
partnership with the Waterloo Region Minor Football Association who will rebrand as the Waterloo
Junior Warriors for Spring 2023.
This partnership signifies an important step in connecting UWaterloo student-athletes with the minor
football community in our region while strengthening the Warriors brand.
“We are very excited to secure this partnership with the Waterloo Warriors,” said President, Matthew
Price. “Our Board of Directors, coaches, and players are all thrilled to associate ourselves with the
Warriors brand. It will give our association more exposure outside of our region, further enhance our
minor football program and strengthen our relationship with the Department of Athletics and
Recreation and the UWaterloo campus community.
We look forward to continuing to grow youth football, providing greater access to resources that will
help develop our players and coaches. “
The partnership will provide many benefits to the athletes of the Waterloo Region Minor Football
Association including:
● Free tickets for all Junior Warrior players to all Waterloo basketball, football,
hockey, and volleyball home games
● Coaching clinics
● Opportunities to meet and learn from current Warriors athletes/coaches
● Discounts on Warriors fan gear, promotional items, etc.
● Social media promotion of Waterloo Region Minor Football
● And more
“This partnership is very exciting and important to our department and university as it
helps showcase our Warriors brand outside of our campus,” said director of athletics
and recreation, Roly Webster.
“Not only will it give the Waterloo Region Minor Football Association a stronger connection to
our Warriors student-athletes, but it will help in developing and retaining local talent in
our region. We look forward to seeing these young, promising football players wearing
the black and gold while developing their skills on and off the field.”
The partnership was made official Thursday Dec 15 at a press release held at University of Waterloo.
