Special Announcement

Hello all flag and tackle Players and Parents,

We would like to update everyone on the COVID-19 situation and how it may affect our upcoming tackle football season and flag football season.

TACKLE SEASON

1. Football Canada and the Ontario Football Alliance have issued a directive that all practices, training and meetings for the month of April are to be cancelled.
We have therefore cancelled all scheduled on field and in-class sessions for all teams for the month of April.

2. OPFL Conference Call - Saturday March 28
Waterloo Region Football was part of a conference call with the OPFL on Saturday to discuss the viability of a Spring Tackle season. The OPFL have decided not to cancel the season at this point and instead adopt a "wait and see"  approach.
The situation will be reevaluated on a weekly basis.   Depending on when fields are available for use, there is a possibility of a modified season as a viable option.

3. OFL (Atom and Peewee)  is also following the guidelines set out by Football Canada.

FLAG SEASON

1. Football Canada and the Ontario Football Alliance have issued a directive that all practices, training and meetings for the month of April are to be cancelled.
We have therefore cancelled the April Spring Skills camp for flag football players that we had originally scheduled for April 27.

2.  Kitchener fields closed until May 4
All city fields and facilities have been ordered closed until May 4.  Our season was scheduled to start May 9, so we will be closely monitoring the field closure situation.

3. Season Evaluation
We have chosen to adopt a "wait and see" approach as it pertains to the Spring flag football season.  We will be reevaluating the situation on a weekly basis and will try to determine by mid to late April if the season can go ahead as planned or if a modified/delayed season is viable.

We will continue to work closely with our sporting partners, governing bodies (Football Canada, Ontario Football Alliance) and local public health authorities to ensure that we are following best practices.
As new information is available, WRMF will ensure that all flag players are informed though email, website (www.waterlooregionfoobtall.com) and social media communication.

We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
